Back from Gdańsk

Just back from a short stay in Gdańsk. Views from our appartment are in the photos.

We ate at our favourite places – Gdański Bowke, Lookier and Gvara(sic) and had our usual dishes – duck pierogi, bread pork and ribs amonst others.

The old market hall – Hala Taragowa, which had been closed for renovation is now open and is all FOOD. The top floor has a lovely Polish restaurant – Polana. there we had pierogi with zander – pike and shrimp tails. (See my recipe for fish pierogi for similar). These are in the photos.

I also bought some magazines and books so I have lots of inspiration for new recipes.

I love cooking and baking. I love trying out new recipes and currently am trying out many old favourites from my Polish cookbooks and family recipes. I am trying out many variations, often to make them easier but still delicious. I collect glass cake stands and china tableware, mainly tea plates, jugs and serving dishes, many of which I use on a daily basis. They are an eclectic mixture from the 20th & 21st century.
